The Story Behind our Hooks

Very often copied, but never matched !  The original toly picture hooks, started its journey way back in the early 1970’s. 

The design & manufacturing of these took off in the UK between 3 business partners, one of which was Mr. Zoli Gatesy.   

Zoli was a Hungarian refugee who fled to London at the beginning of the 1956 revolution. In the 1960’s he upskilled himself to a toolmaker, and soon after sought to compliment his skills by venturing into injection moulding of plastic products.  

The wall hook concept, not in the traditional brass, but in tough nylon became the renowned and original Toly Picture Hook. 

As the range of hooks & business grew, Zoli decided to move and expand the Toly operations to the island of Malta (Europe), where several decades later are still manufactured and marketed worldwide with much pride by Venrey Manufacturing Limited, an ISO-9001-2015 company. 

Such hooks are also known as hardwall hanging hooks.
